March in Colorado Springs

March in Colorado Springs is the perfect time to kick off your spring break plans. The days are getting longer, the temps are warming up, and with fewer crowds around, it’s like having the place to yourself.

You’ll find plenty of sunny pockets for outdoor fun, and if you’re still craving some snow, the mountains are just a quick trip away for skiing.

3 Things to Do Before Your Spring Break 2025 Colorado Trip

As a local who’s called Colorado Springs home for over 26 years, I can tell you that spring break in Colorado is truly something special. While the weather can be a delightful mix of warm sunshine and lingering snow, it’s the perfect blend for those who want to enjoy cool temperatures without sacrificing outdoor adventures.

Popular spots like Garden of the Gods aren’t packed with tourists, giving you more space to explore its iconic red rock formations.

The trails here are accessible year-round, and by mid-March, the days stretch out to a glorious 12 hours of sunshine compared to January’s shorter 9.5 hours. The time change brings longer daylight and the ground starts to thaw.

If you're wondering about things to do in Colorado in the spring, we’ve got you covered! Colorado Springs is packed with fun, whether you’re up for heart-pumping adventures or laid-back family-friendly activities.

Before Your Trip

Tip #1: Make Activity and Dining Reservations Before You Arrive

High Tea at the Broadmoor Hotel

When planning your Colorado spring break, booking ahead is key to making the most of your trip. Popular activities like tea at The Broadmoor, a world-renowned resort, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, and the Pikes Peak Center for Performing Arts fill up fast during peak weeks.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

For food lovers, dining at Lumen8 Rooftop Social with its stunning views, or Eleven 18: Latin Tapas bar —run by a Top Chef contestant—should be high on your list. Nightingale Bread is famous city-wide for its sourdough, but get there before they sell out by 11 am.

Beer fans will love Lucky Brew Tours, while wine enthusiasts can relax at My Cellar Wine Bar.

If you’re craving some Colorado Springs pizza, head to Pizzeria Rustica in Old Colorado City for authentic, wood-fired Neapolitan pies made with fresh, local ingredients.

Before diving into all the Rocky Mountains Pikes Peak adventures, take some time to decide where you want to eat and check if they take reservations.

Whether you're craving local favorites or trying something new, planning ahead ensures you make the most of Colorado for spring break!

Tip #2: Plan Where to Stay Based on What You’re Doing

To make the most of your Colorado Springs in March trip, it’s smart to get familiar with where things are so you can choose the perfect spot to stay based on your planned activities.

The city is easy to navigate, with I-25 and Powers as the main roads running north and south, and major cross streets like Woodman Road and Austin Bluffs helping you find your way around.

Staying in the center of town near Garden of the Gods lets you reach most attractions in about 15 minutes. If you’re headed to the north end for the Air Force Academy, that’s about 45 minutes from Denver. The south end, close to the Broadmoor, offers quick access to museums, restaurants, and the World Arena.

You’ll find plenty of fantastic hikes scattered throughout the city, especially in North Cheyenne Canyon and Manitou Springs to the south.

Stay south Colorado Springs to do popular activities like tackling the Manitou Incline with its 2,744 steps. Exploring the art galleries in Old Colorado City, and catching a performance by the Colorado Springs Philharmonic are all worth considering.

Catch a live concert at the Fine Arts Center on the Colorado College campus or attend a big event at the Broadmoor World Arena.

Zip lining with Broadmood Outfitters

For more adventurous Colorado spring break ideas, head to the breathtaking Cave of the Winds Colorado, or go zip-lining at Broadmoor Outfitters. Make sure to plan a visit to the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum for an inspiring look at our athletes. With so much to explore, you’ll find no shortage of fun this spring break 2025 Colorado style!

Food lovers, dinner at the underground Rabbit Hole or Red Gravy should be high on your list, along with unique dining options like Ephemera at COATI Uprise and Night Ramen in downtown Colorado Springs.

An iconic restaurant, The Margarita at Pine Creek is located closer to mid town, right around I25 and Woodman Road. Nearby Space Foundation Discovery Center just got a major overhaul with tons of interactive exhibits.

Great Wolf Lodge, Air Force Academy and Shops at Briargate are fun to do when the weather is iffy!

Tip #3: Pack for Changing Weather Conditions

Hiking in Garden of the Gods in March

As a local, one of the great things about March in Colorado Springs is the freedom to wear anything! We embrace the art of layering, so don’t hesitate to bring those chunky sweaters and fun boots. Joggers paired with a great T-shirt are also a perfect choice for a casual day out.

Living in the West, we don’t judge a book by its cover; it's all about staying comfy and cozy while exploring the stunning surroundings.

With the ever-changing weather and the Colorado Springs elevation of approximately 6,035 feet, having a versatile Colorado capsule wardrobe lets you adapt to whatever the day brings, whether it’s hiking, fine dining, or simply enjoying the sunshine at a local park.

Waterproof shoes or sturdy hiking boots are great for outdoor adventuring, ensuring you're prepared for any conditions.

So, pack your favorite layers and get ready to enjoy all the unique experiences Colorado Springs in March has to offer!

Tip #2: Plan Ahead Before Heading to the Grocery Store

One of the best parts about staying in Colorado Springs is having plenty of cozy vacation rentals to choose from. But when it’s time to grab groceries, spring break crowds can make it a bit of a madhouse.

A simple fix? Send one person to do the shopping—it’ll save time, keep things chill, and cut down on those impulse buys.

Or, skip the hassle altogether and use Instacart to get stuff delivered from places like Costco, Trader Joe’s, or King Soopers.

If you’re looking for a memorable meal at home, check out local chef services like Take a Chef which offer customized meal preparation to suit your tastes. Just be sure to reserve your prepared meal in advance, so you can spend more time enjoying your Colorado Springs spring break trip!

Tip #3: BYOB (Bring Your Own Bag)

When visiting Colorado for spring break, don’t forget to bring your own reusable grocery bags to avoid extra charges. Colorado has a bag fee, so packing a few reusable bags not only saves you money but is also an easy way to be eco-friendly during your trip. Plus, they’re great for hauling snacks, gear, or souvenirs!
